About The White Hart
The White Hart is a fine old village pub full of character and charm where you’ll be assured of a friendly welcome, whether you join us for a quick drink, one of our delicious home-cooked meals or an overnight stay in our superb guest rooms.
We also have a separate function room ideal for a small private party or corporate events.
Located in the picturesque South Downs village of South Harting, West Sussex, we’re near Petersfield and just a few minutes from the A3, within easy reach of Chichester and Portsmouth. Our pub is an ideal watering hole for anyone walking the South Downs Way.
Close by is the The National Trust property Uppark, where H.G. Wells sometimes lived as a young man when his mother worked as a lady’s maid there. And we have another literary link – the Victorian writer Anthony Trollope spent the last years of his life in South Harting.
The White Hart is now part of the Upham Group, which owns Upham Brewery as well as several other local pubs in the South of England which have been sensitively upgraded in a way the locals and visitors really appreciate.
