COVID 19 (corona virus update)
Dear customers and friends
In line with the Government’s recent announcement our pubs will now be fully closed for the short term to protect lives.
To serve our local communities we had tried to keep many of our pubs open for takeaway and for the hotel users and some of our pubs even served groceries in their villages. But to protect the health and safety of our teams and our customers we will now close our business in its entirety until advised that we are able to re-open. We’re all hoping it won’t be for too long.
If you need to contact us in the meantime please use our email address firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to welcoming you back as soon as possible. We all wish you good health and spirits in these difficult times until we have the pleasure of welcoming you back to your local.

The White Hart is a fine old village inn full of character and charm where you’ll be assured of a friendly welcome, whether you join us for a quick drink, one of our delicious home-cooked meals or an overnight stay in our superb guest rooms.
Located in the picturesque South Downs village of South Harting, West Sussex, we’re near Petersfield and just a few minutes from the A3, within easy reach of Chichester and Portsmouth. Our pub is an ideal watering hole for anyone walking the South Downs Way.
“Traditional country pub in the heart of the village with log fire, friendly and welcoming staff – and amazing food. We had a late lunch on Saturday, delicious risotto and fish & chips – so impressed we went back on the Sunday and had fish pie!” Russel M, Tripadvisor
Had lunch with friends this week and could not have been better: interesting menu, beautifully prepared and presented food, good wine list, great ambience, service as attentive as can be. A wonderful day out!
Brilliant atmosphere, fantastic food and open fires all sewn up with great service. After a brisk walk along the South Downs there is nothing better than a swift pint or a delicious meal in front of an open fire in a charming village pub. Families, dogs, everyone's welcome. We love the place!
This pub is in great walking country near the South Downs Way. There is also a nearby National Trust property (Uppark House). The pub is very old but has been sympathetically restored. The food was some of the best pub food I have tasted in a long while. They were advertising breakfast with unlimited tea and coffee - would be very tempted on another visit!
Stayed at the white Hart for one night while in the area on business and WOW what a fabulous place. The room was spacious and modern but had a rustic charm. Absolutely spotlessly clean an extremely comfortable. Well appointed rooms with lovely toiletries and even a complimentary chocolate bar. All this for less than a budget hotel chain. I'm hooked I will be using this every time I'm in the area. I would also be thrilled to come here for a romantic weekend. A wonderful wee place...5 stars!!
Affordable luxury! The rooms have a spacious feel, and are very tastefully decorated with great character. The bed itself was extremely comfortable, offering a great night’s sleep. The surrounding area is very peaceful and our room looked out across the countryside, it was just perfect. The staff we met were all friendly and extremely helpful, nothing appeared to be too much trouble. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this bed & breakfast, just lovely!!
This pub has got everything right. Full of character with lots of oak beams and fireplaces and comfortable places to sit and eat. A nice varied menu, lovely food, good beer and attentive friendly staff. The icing on the cake was our room, which was easily the nicest room we have ever stayed in. We have stayed here twice now and will definitely return! An absolute delight!
If you’re looking for a breakfast fit for champions, did you know we are open for breakfast 7 days a week for non residents? Like all our menus here at The White Hart, breakfast is freshly prepared and cooked to order. We serve breakfast to residents and non-residents alike from 7.30 to 10am Monday to Friday and […]
Following the Government announcement, we have had to close until we are advised that we can re-open. We know how important the role of the village pub is to each community, and we kept open for as long as possible to serve you. We truly hope we can welcome you back in before too long!
We would sincerely like to thank you for your past and ongoing support and hope you and your families keep safe and well in these difficult times. We really look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back before too long.
